Office Directions
When you arrive, please visit the Front Reception Desk of the Parkside Hotel and ask for a key up to Mezzanine or MindKey Health. The lovely hotel staff will provide a temporary key and point you in the right direction across the pond. Once in the elevator, tap the provided key on the black box for a few seconds, and it will beep and flash blue. You can now press Floor M; our entrance is just to the right outside of the elevators.

Unfortunately, we do not have client parking available at this location. For street-paid parking, try Humboldt Street, Fairfield Road, and Blanshard Street. There is a parking garage located on Burdett Avenue (approximately a 6-minute walk).

Dr. Roberts supervises our Sidney doctoral residents and our Westshore doctoral resident, Kate Cluley. In this role, Dr. Roberts provides experienced guidance, knowledge and expertise ensuring all doctoral resident services are of the same high quality and excellence standard Dr. Roberts herself has provided for over 20 years.
Considered a go-to child psychology expert for journalists, Dr. Roberts is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, Global News and the CBC. She is the author of two best-selling and award-winning series of children's books. "Just Enough" explains topics like birth and diversity to children ages 3-6, while "The World Around Us" introduces kids ages 5-8 to issues like poverty and online safety. She is also the author of "Kids, Sex & Screens: Raising Strong, Resilient Children in the Sexualized Digital Age", a book for parents seeking to help their preteens navigate our hypersexualized world.
In addition to being a highly sought after registered psychologist, tenured professor and author, Dr. Roberts is also a wife and a mom to three children.

Jenn is the clinical director and has been involved with Dr. Jillian since 2017. She oversees operations and clinical products. She has a teaching degree, a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, and is also a Registered Clinical Counsellor. She is currently completing a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. When out of office she enjoys travelling and being in the outdoors. Jenn also shamelessly enjoys reality TV competition shows.

Dr. Sylvie Pappas provides both supervisory support for the MindKey doctoral residents and conducts Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for the clinic. In this role, Dr. Pappas offers her extensive knowledge and expertise, ensuring that all resident services maintain the same high standards of quality and excellence that she has demonstrated throughout her 20+ year career.
Dr. Pappas is a neuropsychologist, holding a Master’s in Psychiatry and a PhD in Psychology. She began her career assessing and diagnosing children in residential treatment centers and school districts across Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Her expertise expanded to include assessing developmental disabilities, brain injuries, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), prenatal alcohol exposure, psychiatric disorders, and neurodegenerative disorders in adults. Dr. Pappas served as the lead Neuropsychologist at the Glenrose Hospital FASD Clinic in Edmonton, Alberta, and was engaged with the University of Alberta, contributing as an instructor and clinical supervisor. In addition, she has held the positions of Chief Psychologist and Coordinator of Assessment Services at a regional treatment facility. Dr. Pappas has been recognized as an expert witness, testifying in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench.
Dr. Jeff Chang

A native of Vancouver, Dr. Jeff Chang is delighted to be renewing his west coast connections by joining the MindKey Health team. A Registered Psychologist in Alberta since 1987, he has worked in child and adolescent mental health programs as a front-line therapist, clinical supervisor, and program director; employee assistance programs; and private practice. He has taught at eight post-secondary institutions. He is currently a Professor in the Master of Counselling program at Athabasca University; Chief Psychologist at Third Academy, a special education school in Calgary; and a consultant and trainer at the Calgary Family Therapy Centre. In his Athabasca University role, Dr. Chang has written courses on psychological assessment, ethics, child and adolescent therapy, and family therapy.
Dr. Chang’s passion is clinical supervision. He has supervised over 40 Provisional Psychologists to be Registered Psychologists in Alberta, as well as those seeking credentialing as family therapists with the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. From 2016 to 2020, he taught the Advanced Clinical Supervision in Psychology continuing education course at the University of Calgary and now curates an online supervision course for the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. Dr. Chang has taught clinical supervision workshops and courses to national and international audiences and mentors developing supervisors. He is the supervision columnist for Psychologists' Association of Alberta’s Psymposium magazine.
Dr. Chang’s other main practice area is high-conflict divorce. He does bilateral parenting time assessments in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, voice of the child assessments, and individual adult assessments. He advises family lawyers about the value of mental health evidence and appropriate psychological services in family law matters.
As a speaker and workshop leader, Dr. Chang has presented locally, nationally, and internationally on topics like solution-focused therapy, family therapy, high-conflict divorce, and clinical supervision. He has been an external reviewer of counselling and therapy training programs and written successful accreditation proposals. Dr. Chang advises agencies to help them develop and improve clinical services. He has provided expert opinions and remedial supervision on behalf of professional regulators. As an author and editor, he contributes practical resources for counsellors and therapists.

I am a Registered Psychologist (#7138) in Alberta and Canadian Certified Counsellor. I am in the process of registering in BC. I understand that physical and mental health concerns can impact life in various ways. My approach is to provide a non-judgmental space for people to find the root cause of their presenting concerns, while providing practical tools that can be applied immediately towards the change people would like to see in themselves. I have experience working with people who have borderline personality disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and/or who are experiencing difficulties with life transitions such as with illness, relationships, and grief, including end of life.
I have training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also practice from the perspective of Trauma-Informed Care. I enjoy working with people of all faiths, and cultural backgrounds, and people who are a part of the LGBTQ2S+ community.
During my 17+ years working in healthcare, I have developed a passion for supporting people who are experiencing difficult life transitions and grief, including end of life. I was an occupational therapist and a yoga instructor before a therapist, and can offer a wholistic view. Outside of work, I travel, hike, cycle, and spend time with my two dogs.

Stephen Roberts is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Stephen brings a diverse history of lived experience to his counselling practice. Stephen approaches each client with the belief that with the right support and encouragement we all have the ability to lead more productive and fulfilled lives. Starting from a place of empathy and compassion, Stephen guides his patients through a respectful examination of their life choices with the goal of providing them with the practical tools they need to meet their true potential.
Stephen received his Master of Arts from Liberty University, with a specialty in Marriage and Family Counselling. Prior to becoming a counsellor, Stephen earned a Doctorate and Master's degree from the University of British Columbia, and a BA from Queen's University.
Stephen has been married to Dr. Jillian Roberts since 1989 and is the father of three children. He is a proud and active citizen of the Métis Nation of British Columbia.

Charlotte is currently in the process of applying for registration with the College of Psychologists of BC. During this process, she is seeing assessment clients under the supervision of Dr. Roberts.
Over the last 5 years of her degree, Charlotte has worked in various private practice settings throughout BC, gaining experience conducting assessments and therapy with individuals across the lifespan. She recently completed her pre-doctoral residency at MindKey Health.
In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys exploring Vancouver Island and going on camping adventures with her partner Callum and her English setter Dudley.
Keana Schmidt-Waselenchuk

Keana has BA (Hons) of Psychology from UVic. With a passion for research, reading, writing, and helping others, Keana holds many roles in her community. She is a Research Assistant in two labs investigating relationships and brain health, and the Research Coordinator for a new project investigating the levels of social isolation in dementia patients and their caregivers. Keana has had the opportunity to co-author an upcoming publication regarding mental health stigma in the media and is looking forward to completing her current papers to be submitted for review. As a mentor, Keana supports students struggling with their mental health through her involvement with UVic’s Mental Health Leadership Program, and helps children of stroke survivors adapt to changes and challenges through the University of Victoria Stroke Awareness Association. She has worked with children, young adults, and older adults and recognizes everyone’s unique strengths and weaknesses.
Keana aims to help individuals improve their educational experience by offering strategies that allow students to further engage with course concepts. Her strengths lay in goal-setting and motivation, notetaking and organization, and reading and writing. Alongside her other specialities, Keana can provide help to individuals who worry for their upcoming exam by suggesting test preparation and anxiety reduction strategies.
In her free time Keana enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with loved ones.

Currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University, Keeley’s therapeutic journey has involved an extensive history of working with children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This background has provided her with a deep appreciation for the nuances of working with diverse populations, highlighting patience, flexibility, and creativity in her practice.
As a counselling intern, Keeley brings a blend of empathy, warmth, and compassion to her therapeutic journey. By understanding that each individual is unique, she tailors her approach to fit the specific needs of clients, drawing from various therapeutic modalities including person-centered, strengths-based, cognitive and behavioural, and solution-focused techniques. Her goal is to foster a safe environment for clients to feel heard, valued, and empowered in navigating life challenges whether it be through exploring thoughts and feelings, developing coping skills, or identifying strengths and resources.
During her practicum, she aims to gain opportunities to expand her skills by working with diverse populations of all ages. Each interaction provides a chance for her to support others and continue to learn and evolve as a counsellor. She values the privilege of learning from each client, recognizing the ongoing potential for mutual growth and understanding through a collaborative framework.
In her spare time, you’ll find Keeley outdoors with her 5-year-old rescue dog, Maya. Whether it be hiking, camping, or exploring and adventuring the island, she finds comfort and relaxation in being with nature (and in being with her furry companion!)

She holds a Master of Management from the Sauder School of Business and an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in Global Resource Systems, both from UBC Vancouver. In her programs, she became passionate about the communications necessary for fostering a better world. After reading Dr. Jillian Roberts’ book "On Our Nature Walk: Our First Talk About The Environment," Klara realized the immense similarities between taking care of people and the planet. She hopes to share social media content that inspires us to take care of ourselves, our communities, and the world.
